Introducing a New Practice Incentive!
A new studio-wide incentive to encourage more practicing with a real chance to win gift cards at the recital!
Dear Parents,
I hope you've had enough time to settle into the new rhythms of back-to-school by now! Life feels so much busier now that things are a bit more normal.
The students and I have been working hard in the studio these past few weeks and they are challenging themselves on new pieces and skills.
However, I've heard from many parents about the difficulties of getting back into the practice routine and I totally understand the struggle. I also disliked practicing when I was studying piano in my younger days! Who wants to struggle through hard things? Why can't we just know our new songs right away magically?
Introducing a New Practice Incentive: Practice Punch Cards!
I will be giving each student a practice punch card each week. Every day that they practice their piano songs (and parents confirm that they gave it a good effort), they can punch a hole on one of those circles.
Once they've collected 7 days of practicing, they can submit their card to me with their name on it.
I will collect all the practice cards from my students and submit them into a raffle, which we will do a draw for at the next recital! There will be an opportunity to win 2x $10 Dollarama Gift Card and 2x $10 Amazon Gift Card. The more practice cards completed, the bigger the chance they have of winning!
The Honours System
Parents, here is where you come in. I am relying on an honours system here as I know how tempting it will be for a child to dishonestly fill out their entire card without actually practicing.
Please make sure they actually worked on the songs from lessons, not just fooling off at the piano for a few minutes. After your child has competed their practicing, they should confirm with you and YOU should be the ones to mark off the practicing on the card.
Ultimately, the goal of this new incentive is to increase the quantity and quality of piano practice at home. As we get into this new rhythm, everyone involved will be able to see just how much faster you can learn with regular daily practicing.
I will talk to each family once more about this new incentive at lessons to make sure everyone is on board!
Looking forward to seeing the fruits of our labours!
Cheers,
Eugenie
Gearing Up to Start Piano in September!
Read to know more about new studio changes from monthly tuition fees to the year’s calendar.
Dear Parents,
I hope you are enjoying the last two weeks of summer before school begins again.
For those taking summer lessons, please note that next week (August 29th - September 5th) I will be on vacation and there will be no lessons. Lessons will resume September 6th for everyone! I'm looking forward to seeing all my students again.
Monthly Tuition Fee
I would like to bring your attention to new changes to the payment system. I will be switching to a flat monthly fee starting September.
Please see this page for more details about how I calculated the fee for each month.
There are many benefits to this switch including allowing you to anticipate a regular monthly cost that does not change, regardless of whether a month has 3, 4, or 5 lessons.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Calendar
I have also updated my website with a calendar. This highlights holidays, including two weeks off during Winter break and March break, and recital dates. Winter recital will be January 21, 2023 and Summer recital will be June 24, 2023. I hope this allows you to plan around the recitals.
The calendar in the MMS portal, however, is what you should use should you wish to cancel or reschedule make up lessons.
Thank you for choosing me as the facilitator to your child's musical journey. I'm looking forward to all that we will accomplish this coming year!
Warm regards,
Eugenie
